Ana Marchidan, born in Romania, 1992, and based in The Netherlands is an architect with a multidisciplinary approach, combining research, visual arts, design and other disciplines.
Having more than 8 years of experience in the field of architecture, she works towards integrating material research and sustainable practices in her projects. She has also participated in several workshops concerning thes topics such as “Building with earth”(BC Materials, Brussels) and “The expressive potential of Concrete”(Studio Ossidiana, Rotterdam).
In her own practice, she experiments with installations (clay, textile, collage, metal, video), and she explores themes around gender, societal patterns, playfulness and folklore, drawing from both her architectural expertise and artistic vision.
She has also contributed as a guest teacher to the Smell Lab course at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague. This approach encouraged mapping spaces using the sense of smell and touch rather than vision, reflecting her interest in expanding architectural narrative to more open and inclusive designs.
Ana Marchidan holds a M.Sc. in Architecture (Adaptive Reuse) and she is currently working in her practice based in Amsterdam and Bucharest.
